Search Atlas alternatives for agencies: project caps and one shared credit meter

Search Atlas is the closest thing in this comparison to the shape we build: one platform, agency-first, AI visibility included rather than sold as a module. It also does a great deal we do not. The limits worth understanding before you buy are the project caps and the single credit balance that AI visibility shares with everything else.

We make Limecube, which competes with Search Atlas, and of everything in our roundup this is the product closest to ours. Every figure below came from searchatlas.com/pricing on 18 August 2026, not from a review site. For the whole category rather than this one comparison, see the nine-tool roundup.

What Search Atlas is, and which part this page is about

Search Atlas is very large. It ships something like two dozen named products under one subscription: site auditing and crawling, keyword and topical mapping, content generation, link building, press releases, local SEO and Google Business Profile tools, CMS publishing, ad automation, even a website builder.

Two names you need in order to read their pricing at all. OTTO SEO is their automation engine, the thing that applies technical and on-page fixes to a site on its own, and plans are sized in OTTO SEO projects, which in practice means sites or clients. LLM Visibility is the AI visibility part, which tracks whether the answer engines mention you.

This page is mostly about that second thing and about the per-client economics, because every comparison in this section is about AI visibility. That scope is a real limit on what follows: it is not a verdict on OTTO, on their ad automation or on their local SEO tooling, none of which we offer and none of which we are judging here. If automation breadth is what you are shopping for, read the concessions below and then go and look at their product rather than ours.

What Search Atlas does better

At length, because this is the closest competitor we have and a thin concession would fool nobody.

  • Breadth, by a wide margin. Ads, local SEO, Google Business Profile management, link building and press releases all sit inside the subscription. Of those, this tool does ads. If you want one login for all of it, that is a genuine reason to buy Search Atlas and no pricing table changes it.
  • Users rate it highly. 4.7 out of 5 across 85 verified reviews on Capterra, where the recurring praise is exactly the thing we are conceding: one platform instead of a stack, and automation that saves real hours.
  • OTTO SEO as automation, not advice. Most tools tell you what is wrong. OTTO is built to apply the fix itself, including on-page and technical changes through a script on your site. That is a more ambitious product bet than ours and it is working for a lot of agencies.
  • Universal CMS publishing. Content goes from the platform to the live site, automatically, across CMSes. That closes a loop most of this category leaves open.
  • White label and client dashboards. White label from Pro at $399, with client dashboards and white-label reporting on Agency.
  • Onboarding included, even on the trial. A one-to-one setup session during a 7-day trial is a sensible answer to the real problem with trials of complex software, which is that they expire before you have configured anything.

The plans and the caps

Monthly rates. Projects are OTTO SEO projects, which is the number that behaves like a client count.

PlanMonthlyProjectsSeatsCreditsAI visibility
Starter$991150,000Not included
Growth$19923120,000Three platforms
Pro$39945400,000Five platforms
Agency$99910101,000,000+Five platforms
The arithmetic that decides it

The largest published plan, Agency at $999, covers ten projects. So a fifteen-client agency does not fit any advertised Search Atlas tier and has to get an Enterprise quote. At the same fifteen clients, Limecube Professional is $99 a month.

That comparison needs the honest caveat attached to it, though. Ten OTTO projects at $999 buys automation, ad management and publishing that our $99 plan does not do at all. The two prices are not measuring the same work. What they do show is the difference in how the two products are sized: theirs by projects that carry a lot of machinery each, ours by a client list where the per-client cost is close to flat.

If your fifteen clients each want technical fixes applied automatically, ads run and pages published, then $999 for ten of them may be the better deal and you should get the Enterprise number for fifteen. If what they want is to be found and cited, and the content programme behind that, the project cap is the thing that will keep pushing you up a tier.

The shared credit meter

This is the part most worth understanding before you buy, and it is not a criticism so much as a design choice with a consequence. Search Atlas runs Universal Credits: one balance, from 50,000 a month on Starter to over a million on Agency, spent across AI visibility, content, SEO execution and ads.

The upside is real. One meter is far easier to reason about than five separate quotas, and it lets you spend where the work actually is this month rather than stranding allowance in a bucket you are not using.

The consequence is that these things compete. A month where you generate a lot of content, or let the ad automation run hard, is a month with fewer credits left for checking whether the engines cite you. Measurement and production draw on the same budget, so the cost of looking rises exactly when you are busiest. Worth modelling against your own mix before you pick a tier, because the credit number, rather than the feature list, is what will bind first.

How OTTO applies its fixes, and why it matters for AEO

This is the part worth understanding before you buy the automation, and it comes from Search Atlas’s own help centre rather than from us. OTTO works through the OTTO Pixel, a script installed in the <head> of your site, added either through their WordPress plugin, through Google Tag Manager, or by pasting it in by hand. In their words, the pixel “is what powers Search Atlas to make thousands of real-time changes across your site”. Changes are approved in the dashboard before they go live and can be rolled back.

For conventional SEO that is clever engineering, and it is how OTTO can fix things on a site it does not own. Before you rely on it for AEO, though, there is one question worth putting to their sales team in plain terms: which of these fixes are actually saved into my website, and which are only added by the script each time somebody loads a page?

The difference decides whether the AI engines ever see the work. A fix saved into your site is part of the page your server hands out, so everything that visits gets it. A fix added by the script only exists after a browser has run that script. Google generally runs scripts. The AI answer engines do not. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot take the page as it arrives and move on, so anything added afterwards is invisible to them. You could have a tidy, well-optimised site in a browser and an untouched one as far as ChatGPT is concerned.

It is the same point we make in controlling AI crawler access and getting cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity. Their WordPress plugin does sync with the CMS, so the honest answer probably depends on which way you install it and which fix you mean, and that is exactly why it is worth asking rather than assuming.

Reviewers who have run it at length reach a similar place from a different angle, advising that automated fixes be reviewed individually rather than trusted blindly. That is sensible advice for any tool that writes to a live site, ours included. It is a reason to test on one client before switching it on across a portfolio, not a reason to avoid it.

Engine coverage

AI visibility starts on Growth at $199 with three platforms and reaches five on Pro at $399: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. Starter at $99 does not include it at all, which is worth knowing if the entry price is what drew you.

Claude is not covered. That is not a Search Atlas quirk. Neither Semrush, SE Ranking nor Ahrefs Brand Radar lists it either. In this category only Profound, on Enterprise, Otterly as a paid add-on, and Limecube as standard, cover it at all.

Whether that matters is a question about your clients rather than about the tool. It is a real gap for technical and B2B audiences and close to irrelevant for a local trades business.

Which to choose

Buy Search Atlas if breadth is the point: automation that applies fixes rather than listing them, ads, local and Google Business Profile work, publishing straight to the CMS, all on one bill. On that, nothing in this comparison including us is a like-for-like swap.

Buy Search Atlas Pro or above if you want its AI visibility properly, since Growth covers three platforms and five needs Pro at $399. Do not budget from the $99 entry price for this, because AI visibility is not in it.

Get the Enterprise quote first if you run more than ten client sites. The published tiers stop at ten projects, so for a larger portfolio the advertised pricing is not the pricing that applies to you.

Look at Limecube if your client list is longer than your automation wish-list: fifteen clients on one $99 plan, AI visibility across six surfaces including Claude at every tier rather than from the second tier up, and no shared meter between measuring and producing. This tool does not apply technical fixes to your site for you, so if OTTO-style automation is why you are here, buy theirs. Worth knowing that Limecube is a website builder in its own right, so if a client needs the site itself rebuilt rather than patched by a script, that is a separate Limecube product rather than something this tool does. From $35 a month with a 7-day trial and no card at signup.

Fix the free things first whichever you choose. If your robots.txt blocks the AI crawlers, no tool on this page can help, because the engines cannot read you in the first place. Controlling AI crawler access takes ten minutes and costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much does Search Atlas cost?

Starter is $99 a month, Growth $199, Pro $399 and Agency $999. Each tier sets a number of OTTO SEO projects, which is effectively your site or client count: one on Starter, two on Growth, four on Pro and ten on Agency. Seats run 1, 3, 5 and 10. There is a 7-day free trial with one-to-one onboarding included.

  • Does Search Atlas include AI visibility tracking?

From the Growth plan at $199 a month, not on Starter. Growth covers three platforms, and Pro at $399 adds Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity for five in total: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Copilot and Perplexity. Anthropic Claude is not among them.

  • What are Universal Credits in Search Atlas?

A single credit balance spent across the whole platform, from 50,000 a month on Starter to over a million on Agency. Search Atlas describes it as one meter across AI visibility, content, SEO execution and ads. It is simpler than juggling separate quotas, but it does mean AI visibility checks draw from the same balance as content generation and ad automation.

  • Can Search Atlas handle fifteen clients?

Not on a published plan. The largest listed tier, Agency at $999 a month, covers ten OTTO SEO projects. Beyond that you are into their Enterprise pricing, which is quoted rather than published. If you are running fifteen or more client sites, get that quote before comparing on the advertised numbers.

  • Does Search Atlas track Claude?

No. Its five supported platforms are ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. That is the same gap as Semrush, SE Ranking and Ahrefs Brand Radar, so it is a category-wide omission rather than a Search Atlas one. Profound covers Claude on Enterprise, Otterly sells it as an add-on, and Limecube includes it.

  • What is a good Search Atlas alternative?

It depends which part you are buying. Nothing in this comparison matches the breadth of its automation, so if OTTO SEO and ad automation are why you are looking, there is no like-for-like swap. If you want AI visibility and a content workflow across a longer client list without the project caps, an all-in-one priced per workspace is the different shape. One thing to check either way: OTTO delivers its fixes through a script on your site, so ask which of those fixes get saved into your website itself and which are only applied when a browser loads the page. The AI engines do not run scripts, so anything in the second group is invisible to them.
